How to stream as an AI character on TikTok LIVE and Twitch

Go live as a consistent AI character that copies your real expressions, without showing your real face. This guide uses MorphCam, the real-time AI character camera, with TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS.

In short

  • MorphCam Camera appears as a normal webcam, so streaming software can use it as a camera source.
  • TikTok LIVE: add a camera source in TikTok LIVE Studio and choose MorphCam Camera.
  • Twitch: in OBS Studio, add a Video Capture Device and choose MorphCam Camera.
  • Turn on Hide my camera preview so your real face never appears on your screen while you stream.

Why stream as an AI character?

Many creators want to build an audience without putting their real face online. An AI character gives you a consistent, recognisable on-screen persona while your real expressions, head movements and gestures still come through. Viewers get a real, live person; you keep your privacy.

Step 1: set up MorphCam

  1. Install the MorphCam Windows app and sign in.
  2. Upload the character photo you want to stream as, or describe the look with a prompt.
  3. Turn on Hide my camera preview. MorphCam then never shows your real camera on screen, which matters when you capture or share your screen.
  4. Use Preview to check your lighting and framing. Preview doesn't use credits.

Step 2a: TikTok LIVE with TikTok LIVE Studio

  1. Open TikTok LIVE Studio on your computer. TikTok decides which accounts can go LIVE, so check that yours has access.
  2. Add a new source and choose your camera (it may be called Video capture device or Camera).
  3. Choose MorphCam Camera (Windows Virtual Camera). If it shows no picture, choose MorphCam Camera.
  4. Click Start in MorphCam, check the picture in LIVE Studio, then go live.

Step 2b: Twitch (or YouTube) with OBS Studio

  1. Install OBS Studio and connect it to your Twitch account (Settings, then Stream).
  2. Under Sources, click +, choose Video Capture Device, and pick MorphCam Camera as the device.
  3. Resize the source and add your overlays, chat and alerts as usual.
  4. Click Start in MorphCam, then Start Streaming in OBS.

Using the web app on a Mac instead? Capture the MorphCam window in OBS instead: the OBS steps show how.

Tips for a better stream

  • Use the same character every time. A consistent look is what makes viewers remember you.
  • Light your face evenly from the front. The AI follows what your camera can see.
  • Keep MorphCam running while you stream. With the Windows app, you can minimise it or cover it with other windows.
  • Live time uses credits (2 credits per second, plus a 12-credit start fee each time you click Start). See pricing.

Tell your viewers it's AI. Say it in your profile or on screen, and follow TikTok's and Twitch's own rules on AI-generated and synthetic content. MorphCam may never be used to impersonate a real person or mislead viewers. Read our rules.

FAQ

Streaming questions

How do I add MorphCam to OBS for Twitch?

In OBS, under Sources, click +, choose Video Capture Device and pick MorphCam Camera. Then stream to Twitch as usual.
